Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Tomahawk, Wisconsin and dreamed of becoming a teacher since she was four years old! She attended Concordia University Wisconsin, graduating in 2019 with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in mathematics. She is very blessed and excited to be back in the Northwoods teaching fourth grade at Trinity!
Mrs. Smith aims for pertinent, targeted, student-centered instruction in her classroom. She diversifies lessons whenever possible and allows student choice in many projects and activities. She realizes that creating a sense of meaning and ownership in learning increases student motivation and excitement, important both for engagement in the classroom and for creating lifelong learners. Integral to each and every day in fourth grade is not only instruction focused on academics, but also relationship-building and a culture that supports students in becoming fearless Christian leaders as they prepare for middle school. Mrs. Smith views her role as teacher as a partnership with parents. Open communication and common goals are the best supports students can be given. Several fourth-grade highlights include the Question Box; a trip to the Little Red Schoolhouse; and several choose-your-own projects, including one about volcanoes!
In her free time, Mrs. Smith enjoys playing board games with her husband Tim, reading, gardening, hiking, knitting, playing softball, and experimenting with new recipes. She finds both comfort and inspiration in Galatians 2:20.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
