The Holy  Trinity

“What’s in a Name?”

Rev. Timothy Smith

7:30am & 9am Sunday, June 4, 2023 in the Upper Sanctuary

Trinity Lutheran Church & School

Wausau, Wisconsin

As We Gather  “All good things come in three.” That proverb has existed through many ages, languages, and cultures. On Holy Trinity Sunday, the Christian Church celebrates the doctrine of the Trinity, which expresses the divine truth that God is Three in One and One in Three. How best do we celebrate that amazing doctrine? A hymn written by Scottish cleric Gilbert Rorison in the middle of the nineteenth century offers a guiding prayer: Three in One and One in Three Ruler of the earth and sea, Hear us, while we lift to Thee Holy chant and psalm. Our worship becomes celebration as we express our faith in and love for the Holy Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
