First Communion
We believe, teach, and confess that in receiving the Lord’s Supper we receive the very body & blood of Christ our Lord (Matthew 26:26,28).
The Lord’s Supper is one of the chief ways in which the Lord delivers his gifts to His church for our benefit. However, the Lord’s Supper is often misunderstood and for that reason should not be received prior to careful instruction in the Gospel and Sacraments. Fifth grade students are invited to participate in Trinity Lutheran Church’s First Communion instruction to prepare them for the reception of the Lord’s Supper.
In order to take Communion as a fifth grader, students must attend our Study of the Sacraments course. The course will be offered in the spring and parents should expect to attend the course with their child. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to celebrate the Lord’s Supper for the first time on Maundy Thursday.
